Since 1976, the Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival, a flagship program of Banff Centre, has been an industry leader in the celebration of Mountain Culture. Following the festival each fall, our annual World Tour reaches more than 45 countries on 7 continents, making us the largest adventure film tour on the planet.  

Director: Samuel Dunning | Cast: Samuel Dunning, Doug McCue, Caleb Wells Canoe Dig It? is a mockumentary comedy about a fictional canoeing competition in Northern Maine for the nonfictional sport of “Freestyle Canoeing”, a form of performative canoeing best described as “canoe dancing”. Competitors paddle out and spin, dip, and “dance” in circles in perfect synchronization with the music of their choice.

The greatest concert film of all time, Stop Making Sense brings to the screen Talking Heads at Hollywood's Pantages Theater in December 1983: David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz, and Jerry Harrison, alongside an ecstatic ensemble of supporting musicians. Renowned filmmaker Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs) captures the band at their exhilarating best, in this new and complete restoration for the film's 40th anniversary.

The White Mountain Cinema Camp is a two-week filmmaking intensive for students ages 14–18. Using many of the standards of a professional production crew, students will create a group short film from script to screen. Throughout the process, students learn how to build a story, use tools in pre-production, and work with professional equipment and standard editing practices to create a polished product as seen on sets of a professional film. This screening of the new short film created by the students of the White Mountain Cinema Camp is followed by a Q & A with the students on stage discussing their process and experience.

Join us Saturday, August 1 in Bethlehem, N.H. for DI:Rectangle, a day of public programming brought to you by Directangle Press and DesignInquiry. Artists, designers, and writers come together at The Colonial Theatre, The Gallery at WREN, Directangle Press, and adjacent neighborhood spaces to share readings, performances, live music, research presentations, panel discussions, and more, investigating the concept and form of the rectangle and how they shape how we see, organize, create, communicate, and publish. Programming at The Colonial Theatre runs from 12–3PM and 6–10PM. All programming is free and open to the public. Donations are welcome.

1pm - Meet the Speakers Reception | 1:30pm - Brief introduction followed by screening of All the President's Men | After the film - Stay for a conversation about the movie and how it relates to today. Two green reporters and rivals working for the Washington Post, Bob Woodward (Robert Redford) and Carl Bernstein (Dustin Hoffman), research the botched 1972 burglary of the Democratic Party Headquarters at the Watergate apartment complex. With the help of a mysterious source, code-named Deep Throat (Hal Holbrook), the two reporters make a connection between the burglars and a White House staffer. This event is in partnership with NHPR's Civics 101.

Each piece is grounded in a distinct lesson inherited from my mother and father, articulated through fragmented images, elemental sound, and spatial composition. These works are shaped by a fractal and elemental architecture (both literal and imagined) and by a worldbuilding practice that extends beyond image and sound into environmental design and ephemeral objects.

Two Jedi escape a hostile blockade to find allies and come across a young boy who may bring balance to the Force, but the long-dormant Sith resurface to claim their former glory.
