Join AskPETRA, the North Country Health Consortium, the ACHS, and North Country Pride for a pre-show discussion and screening of Episode one of the popular HULU series Dopesick which chronicles the dramatic increase in the use of Oxycodone in rural areas in the 1990’s. The Hulu miniseries focuses on rural America’s struggle with the opioid addiction across the US and how individuals and families are affected by it. Dopesick is based on the nonfiction book Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors and the Drug Company that Addicted America by Beth Macy. It focuses on the legal case against Purdue Pharma as well as their development and marketing of the drug OxyContin.
