We want to hear from you! The Colonial is seeking story submissions for our first live storytelling event: Do Tell! Live Stories at the Colonial.

The theme for the evening is “It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time.” Yes, we’ve all had those moments, ideas, experiences that upon reflection… probably needed even more reflection! Anyone’s welcome to apply – all you need is a little bit of courage and a true, 10 minute story that suits the theme.

Send a synopsis of your 10 minute story with a beginning, middle and end to DoTellColonial@gmail.com by Friday, Aug. 23rd. We‘re simply seeing who is interested and hopefully there will be so many submissions we will continue Do Tell; Live Stories at the Colonial. We will notify people of the evening line up on Friday, Aug. 30th. The event date is tentatively set for Thursday, Sept. 19th depending on having enough storytellers.

We create meaning in our lives, through the stories that we tell. Through story we know we are not alone, we feel connection to others. Come on, tell us about “It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time.”

HERE’S THE DEAL:

• Your story must connect to the theme “It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time.” in some way.
• True, original stories only.
• Contestants must be at least 16 years old.
• Content must be suitable for a general audience, ages 13 and up.

TO ENTER:

To enter, submit your 2-minute excerpt recording to DoTellColonial@gmail.com. If it’s not obvious in your recording, make sure to tell us how the story will relate to the theme “It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time.” Deadline to enter is Friday, Aug. 23. If you’ve been chosen for Do Tell, you’ll be notified by Friday, Aug. 30.

REMEMBER!

If you are selected for Do Tell, you’ll only have 10 minutes at the mic to tell your story and adhere to the 10 minute time limit. Please remember you do not have to say the theme “It seemed like a good idea at the time” in your story; it only needs to be implied. Be creative!
